The Cybersecurity Experimentation of the Future (CEF) study identified cybersecurity experimentation needs through a series of three community-based study groups.

Study Group 1:Understand Hard Cybersecurity Problems and Develop Experimentation Use Cases

Goal: Learn about future societal computing dependencies and emerging and future hard cybersecurity problems that will form tomorrow's research agendas. Identify those topics and use cases that will benefit from experiment-driver research and research infrastructure.
Status: Completed March 13-14, 2014.
Study Group 2: Identify Future Experimentation Infrastructure Requirements

Goal: Identify the experimentation infrastructure and services needed to facilitate science-based research that addresses the identified hard cybersecurity problems.
Status: Completed May 7-8, 2014.
Study Group 3: Prioritize Domain-Based Capability Needs

Goal: Identify existing "cornerstone" capabilities that may be used. Identify gaps between needed and current experimentation capabilities. Identify overlaps in needs by domain. Prioritize capabilities based on domain needs.
Status: Completed June 18-19, 2014.
